Well, I can say I ran or jogged and walked all 13.1 miles today in the 1/2 marathon. This event has been a goal of mine this year and I started out following the training schedule. This has meant jogging outside in January. My training somehow seemed to get stuck at 4 miles (maybe it was the wind chill factor) and the 1/2 marathon goal seemed unlikely. I've been dragging my feet but at last minute (Wednesday) I decided that I could do it. My morning started out at 5:10. I call this a bad start since I hate mornings and always jog in the evening. I also ended up starting with the wrong group. The 1/2 marathon group was out of sight when I took off. I ran 3 miles by myself before I eventually caught up with some walkers and kept going. I've had some shin splints and blister problems but I guess today was my day because I felt great. I didn't even have any low blood sugar problems which was also a major concern for me. I'm still not sure about the computer chip that was in my shoe for my timing because I don't seem to appear in the results yet, but that could be because of my late registration. Anyway, I had my ipod going and I crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 52 minutes! I was very happy since I was hoping to finish in 4 hours. This was such a great experience and I'm so happy that I decided to run today. I might not be running much anytime soon, but I definately will consider this run next year. Did I mention that running with someone is very motivating?? Any takers??
